Perhaps you are feeling constantly low, or anxious about something, or feeling angry a lot of the time and might have a low opinion of yourself and struggle to find self-confidence. There is a ‘root cause’ which the counsellor helps the you to understand.
My role as a counsellor is to help you understand those feelings that might be hidden or repressed. Sometimes we repeat the same patterns of behaviour, which could be frustrating; psychodynamic therapy provides insight into the unconscious parts of our mind, which helps us understand how we re-enact the same behaviours, themes and patterns in our lives.
My practice is a safe place to learn more about yourself. To find out more about how I can support you in my role as counsellor, please do not hesitate to call me or simply view my Services page.
Psychodynamic therapy explores the significance of earlier life experiences in shaping our psychological development and our relationships as adults. Psychodynamic therapy is based on the assumption that feelings held in the unconscious mind are too painful or uncomfortable to realise. Some people develop defense mechanisms to protect themselves from dealing with, or confronting these feelings.
We will explore your past – and look at the present – to better understand past events, how they are remembered or re-lived, and what effect they may still be having, so that we can understand your present thoughts and what lies behind them. We all have experiences that shape how we think, feel and behave in the here-and-now. Making links between the present and the past will allow us to understand where certain emotions come from; through the process, we learn new ways to move forward.
My starting point is always to establish a relationship with you that feels safe, supportive, and confidential. A safe space to explore your pain, challenges, and hardships, along with your hopes and dreams.
I believe it is the therapeutic relationship we develop together, namely the dynamic that emerges which provides insight and an understanding of how we relate to ourselves, other people, and the wider world.
Offering you a space where you feel seen and heard, without judgement, has always been my goal. I am passionate about compassion, and will make sure you are safe and supported at all times.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07786921996 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
